Guess what?! Your belly is growing, and your life is about to change in just a few months and it’s time to get prepared.
Right about now maternity clothing is entering the picture, as well as getting some shopping done for your baby before you’re too tired and don’t want to spend much time in the stores shopping.
I have put together some second-trimester must-haves that will help you figure out what to buy now. And don’t forget to move on to the ultimate third-trimester checklist when it’s the time!
Maternity Clothes
Getting maternity clothes doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice style. There are tons of cute and stylish maternity clothes out there!
As your baby continues to grow your belly grows as well and the more uncomfortable you may become. Super honesty time! I loved my maternity clothes. They were soft, stretchy, and super cute! One of my favorite places to get maternity clothes is stitch fix!
Sleeping Pillow
You might have realized by now that you need some extra help getting a good night’s sleep. Earplugs, comfy sleeping clothes, and what saved me the most during pregnancy was a pregnancy pillow! I probably couldn’t have slept as well as I did during pregnancy.
My favorite pregnancy pillow I got was from PregnancyPillow.com. They have big full-body pillows and they are incredibly soft! Do you know how baby blankets have that Minky fabric? well so does these pillows!
I love these pillows because they saved my aching back and helped me to sleep so much better! And guess what? I have a special promo code you can use for these amazing pregnancy pillows.

Glider
Adding a glider to your baby’s nursery will make late-night feedings easier for you and soothe your baby. The back and forth motion calm a crying baby as well as eases the lower back pain.
You might even want to add a matching footstool to prop up your tired and swollen feet during pregnancy.
*Disclaimer-Gliders may cause you to fall asleep while feeding your baby at night!
I love my glider. I love it so much that I have fallen asleep so many times because the rocking motion puts me to sleep! My glider helped a lot when my little one was teething. The rocking motion soothed her and helped her to fall asleep easier.
I love this Storkcraft Premium Hoop Glider and Ottoman. It glides really smooth and the rocking motion is gentle and calming.
Baby Clothes
Now, you don’t have to stress too much. The third trimester is when baby showers are thrown and you will get a lot of your essentials at the baby shower. But getting some outfits, booties, or socks here and there won’t hurt.
Start looking around to see what items you will want to add to your baby registry then after the baby shower you get to purchase the items you did not receive.
Pregnancy books
Pregnancy books are great to help you prepare and educate you on what to expect. Now not every pregnancy and delivery is the same but knowing what to expect might help calm some nerves.
These were my top favorite pregnancy book. I referenced them when I was unsure about something or wanted to understand something better. It was great to understand the different stages of labor since I did it naturally.
I felt more prepared even during my long 36-hour labor! But remember if your pregnancy has some differences compared to the ones in the book that is okay! Not all pregnancies are the same.
Nursery accessories
The baby nursery is fun to put together! start small by adding colorful paint, stencils, and picture frames to fill once your little one has arrived. Check out Pinterest for cute ideas to decorate your baby’s nursery.
Putting together our baby’s nursery was one of my favorite things to do! I loved seeing all the cute ideas on Pinterest. One of my favorite places to get baby nursery and kid room decor is ProjectNursery.com.
Man o’ man do they have some of the cutest stuff!
Crib
Your newborn won’t need a crib in the beginning since babies typically sleep in a bassinet or pack n’ play next to the bed for the first 4-6 months of their life.
When my husband and I were trying to pick out what crib we wanted for our baby. We knew what we wanted one that would last her a while and so we got an amazing 4-in-1 convertible crib.
These cribs go from baby to toddler, kid, and adult! In the long run, you end up saving money since you only have to buy a bed once!
Stretch Mark Cream
If you are one of those lucky few that don’t get stretch marks. I wish I had your skin! By now your belly is showing or just starting to show.
To help with your stretch marks before you start getting too many I would recommend getting some stretch mark cream and start applying it ASAP! Little disclaimer. Stretch mark cream helps keep your skin very moisturized which helps to prevent getting some stretch marks.
But if your body gets stretch marks it is going to get them regardless of the creams you use. Now I am not saying stretch mark creams don’t work. Because my stretch mark cream helped me a ton!
I am just letting you know that when you get your stretch mark cream that it won’t magically make you not get any stretch marks. So that being said I want to share with you one of my favorite places to get stretch mark cream!
it is called The Spoiled Mama. They have everything! Such as preventing stretch mark creams, breastfeeding care, and postpartum skincare. Something I love about them is that it is toxin free which was a big deal for me.
If you don’t think that you need stretch mark cream I would seriously give some a try!
There is not a lot that you need to get during your second trimester. But now is the time to prepare, since your second trimester is where you usually have more energy. Make a list of things that you need and what you need to get done. That way you can work on it little by little!
